Leicestershire Anti-Bullying Team
Book 6 - Curriculum Planning

The curriculum provides many opportunities to teach young people about discrimination and respect.  The key to tackling prejudice-driven bullying is to provide opportunities for young people to think, understand and challenge their own prejudice.  The national curriculum, including English, Geography, History, Art, Music, Drama, PE, Citizenship, Sex and Relationship Education, PSHE, and General Studies provide many opportunities to introduce sexual orientation into the school curriculum.  By using positive inclusion of LGB issues, teachers can demonstrate and reflect the diversity of society.   Lessons also provide an opportunity for pupils to understand the consequences of discrimination.

Book 6 includes a number of activities and lesson plans which will help staff to introduce sexual orientation issues into the classroom.
